Thyroid Treatment

Overview

A gland called the thyroid is located in the shape of a butterfly in the neck of the person above the trachea and below the larynx. This gland produces two types of hormones called triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). Thyroxine hormone controls the body's digestive system, protein production, sensitivity to other hormones, etc. It is a very important hormone for our body. These hormones affect our kidneys, heart, and respiratory system, etc. In the person's brain in the pituitary gland, a hormone is secreted which is called Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH). This hormone regulates the levels of hormones T3 and T4 produced by the thyroid gland.

When the number of hormones called triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) is unbalanced or the thyroid gland cannot produce these hormones properly, it is called thyroid disease. This imbalance of thyroid hormones almost affects all cells related to it.
