Oral Submucous Fibrosis Treatment

Overview

Oral submucous fibrosis is a serious chronic, complicated, progressive, rash, and potentially fatal condition that infects any part of the oral cavity. It is a precarious condition that affects the submucous of the mouth. The submucosal is a densely irregular connective tissue and muscle layer beneath the mucous membrane. This submucosal tissue helps to open the mouth and jaw easily. Oral submucous fibrosis changes the elastic capacity, softness, and flexibility of the submucosal, causing stiffness in the person's jaw and inability to open the mouth.

Oral submucous fibrosis is an early disorder and can also turn into a fatal condition. In some circumstances its moderate to severe condition is irreversible. In oral submucous fibrosis, a person is not able to open his mouth completely and his ability to open his mouth gradually starts to decrease. The disease can sometimes affect any part of the pharynx with the oral cavity. Oral submucous fibrosis can occur in any person, but most young and adult people are highly affected by this disease.
